We thought to finally compare brownie versus whitey! The original powder-coated aluminium louvred facade is now being reconsidered. Originally designed in collaboration with Christian Liaigre and Denkon Corker Marshall of HK, the facade had at least three resurrections using timber, white circular tubular steel and now aluminium vertical strips. Eight years later, H and M moved in. We’d rather a soft white [or maybe pink] laminated film on glass for simplicity and elegance on avenueK’s 170m long facade, not withstanding the fact that we have external lighting to contend with (lighting was partly designed in collaboration with Anne Militello of vortex lite in USA) and retailers just can’t get enough advertising space anywhere on the long face, and so we felt somewhat ‘obligated’ to allow sections for advertising and brand logos. Somehow.
